Nexicor’s Hand Held SINCH™ Induction Bonding Technology

ABM staff led the development, patenting and market analysis for the first low cost, hand held, induction activated instant adhesive and tool systems for widespread industrial and consumer use. Nexicor’s SINCH Technology™ is a revolutionary fastening technology platform that makes difficult fastening jobs simple, safe, and convenient, by focusing the heat only in the bondline of the area being fastened. This intelligent bonding stems from the patented SINCH Technology's™ ability to read the distance to the bond-target and calibrate the energy needed to achieve precise heating. The SINCH Technology™ generates a safe electromagnetic field to remotely activate adhesive tapes through any non-metallic material.

Strong permanent bonds can be created conveniently and quickly, on-demand. With the proper adhesive and adhesive patterns, the bond can be optionally reversed for easy removal or repositioning without damage to the bonded materials. Costing considerably less than conventional induction heating systems, this small, lightweight, and safe system meets the needs of both professional and consumer users in a wide range of applications.

Typical applications include:

  • Flooring and rigid laminate installation, such as the KoolGlide™ Carpet System
  • Product assembly - bonding wood, plastic, and other non-metallic materials
  • Soldering, brazing, and heat treating

The system can be used with a wide range of tapes or can be preprinted, with the design made to meet specific performance and cost requirements. Many conventional hot melt adhesives, such as ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA), polyolefin, polyamide or polyester based adhesives can be applied to the basic foil product construction to create double-sided or single-sided tapes. Multiple adhesives can be used on one tape. For example, tacky areas can be used to hold the tape in place temporarily before creating a permanent bond by activating the tool. Tapes can be pre-applied to the substrate or site applied by the user. Because fastening is done with tapes or is preprinted, not messy liquid or smelly glues, the dry adhesive isn't activated until materials are in place.

One highly respected chemical consulting firm called this one of the biggest innovations in adhesives in 30 years and well worth a billion dollars in annual revenue opportunities. While other Fortune 200 firms had spent nearly thirty years trying to develop such products, it was only when ABM’s team became involved with Nexicor’s innovative parent Senco Products, that the breakthroughs arrived via lateral transfer of several seemingly unrelated technologies from the cell phone, fabric, plastics and laminate industries.
